Text Box: Scout Sunday
We had a very good showing on Scout Sunday and the scouts received a round of applause in appreciation.
State-of-the-troop:
A TV and DVD player have been set up so we can show training videos at the Hut.
Finance:
Volunteering for Cal basketball games has earned the troop extra money lately. There will be one more volunteer opportunity on 2/14.
The committee discussed having a carwash when the weather improves since that brings in quite a bit of money and can be fun.

Dinner for the poor at St. Mary Magdalen Parish. Setup 1-3 PM first Sunday in the month.

Text Box: Committee Meeting 2/6/2008
Attendees: Chairman Don, Mary, Ernie, Scoutmaster Paul, Jane, Bob, Peg, and David.
Scoutmaster’s Report:
New SPL Sam B. brought a lot of energy and ideas to the leadership position. His extensive wolfeboro staff experience gives the troop a sound base of scouting knowledge.
Matt and Sam B. will represent the troop at the Camporee planning meetings. Matt, newly transferred from Piedmont has served previously on Camporee planning committees. Matt has also completed NYLT training, which is an asset to the troop.
Philmont bound scouts need to schedule medicals, bringing the Philmont form to the appointment since Philmont accepts no other forms. Paul has the forms.
January Report:
Death Valley Trip
Leaving the rain behind, we were cool and dry in Death Valley. We camped 3 nights at Furnace Creek and hiked the carved canyons east of the campgrounds. There was a surprising amount of water from a spring and a separate creek. We also spotted a number of caves or mines that we kept clear of. The hike was followed by a high scoring touch football game. The next day was a hike to the dunes, with the scouts tobogganing down the highest of the dunes. After that we hiked through Ash Meadows near Devil’s Hole and saw pupfish, an endangered species that is only found there. The ranger gave us a tour of the ‘off limits’ area of the ranger station, where there were other pupfish in tanks kept by researchers.
